Automatic Labelling Machine
Labellers:
Labelling is important for tranmitting information about the product to the user.
Labelling machinery can be categorized by the label adhesive container
combination for which it was designed. The machine must be capable of applying
the label accurately and consistently. At on extreme , labels may be applied
with a simple hand gun dispenser. At the other , the task may be performed by
high spee automatic equipment.
Labels may be of the wet-glue, pressyre-sensitive or heat sensitive- types.
a.) Wet-glue labelling is the least expensive is terms of label costs. Wet-labelling
adhesives can be textrin-based, casein-based starch based, sythetic dispersions
and hot melts. Wet-labelling sysytes all have to perform the same basi function.
that is to feed labels one at a time from magazien, coat the label with
adhessive , feed the label to the article to be labelled in the correct
posisiton, apply correct pressure t smooth the label onto the arcticle to remove
article from the labelling machine.
Pressure-sensitive labellers have one thing in common. They all require hat
the label is peeled away from the backing paper. This is carried out by the
unwinding a reel of die-cut labels and pulling them round a sripper plate. As
the label i sbent araround the plate at a sharp agnle the front endge of the
labeel s pulled away.
Heat-seal labelling has most of the advantages of pressure sensitive
labelling but generally at lower cost . The heat seal is formed by a
plasticized paer which when heated becomes tacky on the underside. The
ability of the ashessive to remain tacky after removal from the heat soruce
aids mahine design.
